INTENTIONAL

I have some news. Some great news. News that confirms a dream and desire I have had for roughly 12 years. If you are reading this and you have known me at any time during the last twelve years, you will know teaching was the main focus. There was a season of missions that still revolved around teaching. I enjoyed teaching, I enjoyed guiding, I enjoyed kids of all ages, I enjoyed learning and most of all, I enjoyed serving the Father. I didn’t do this perfectly and got lost a couple times along the way. But He never left me lost. Even in my lost seasons, I never stopped teaching. Teaching is very much a part of who my innermost being is, however, I never truly grasped how broad that desire was. 

I grew up believing that since I like to teach and was good with people and kids, I was supposed to be a teacher. So that is what I pursued and became. In high school though, I went through a season where I dreamed of being a speaker. Someone who got to lead groups in discussions about the word and about truth. At that time, I didn’t realize that this was STILL teaching. Me and one of my old friends, wrote a curriculum for a weekend retreat. We worked on it for weeks. We had breakout sessions, worship, talking sessions and even follow up workbooks all planned out. This was the first time DESTINED2B surfaced from my heart. We prayed about it and finally gained the courage to present to some leaders. They laughed. They said we had a good thought but it wasn’t going to amount to anything. We were devastated. We respected and looked up to these leaders and they just crushed our dreams and hard work. Unfortunately, the discouragement from this rejection defeated us. We accepted that we must not be pursuing God if these people we showed shut it down. So, we prayed and cried and burned our notes and plans. Extreme I know, but our validation rested in these leaders rather than the Father. Over the years, the theme of this echoed in my mind. It has changed many times. Even now, this dream, this theme is becoming more and more a reality. I had the privilege of being celebrated and formally accepted as a certified coach with THE INTENTIONALS. This means I get to do EXACTLY what my heart has been aching to do since high school. Teach, coach and guide people to understand and discover who they were created to be. All while serving alongside my very best friends. At this moment, I still can’t hold back the tears as my heart is overwhelmed that the Father is answering this prayer. Even through the times I had given up and convinced myself God didn’t see this as part of the plan for my life, He never stopped working. He never stopped prompting my heart and making unrealistic, totally unexplainable connections to bring this to fruition. 

It all started with a little girl who liked to teach so she became a teacher. Being a good teacher led her to Haiti where she got to, not only teach actual content, but she got to teach others how to be effective teachers and administrators. This is where she met her very best friend. When she left Haiti, she tried teaching in a classroom again and this is where she discovered teaching does not limit her to a classroom or a school. What she had learned in Haiti regarding teaching did not fit the mold in the school system any longer. Her best friend connected her to her mom who gave her wisdom from the Father about who she is in HIM. She learned to use her teaching ability in her new family since her job no longer focused or emphasized education. She became discouraged that her life had slipped too far from her teaching heart. Her best friend's mom blessed her with an unexpected and unexplainable opportunity and gift. Resulting in her receiving her certification in coaching. Now, she is no longer waiting for the dream, she is living it. SHE IS A COACH.
